Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science-backed approach to teaching new skills and reducing behaviors that interfere with learning. It is the most widely researched autism therapy and is covered by most Minnesota insurance plans, including EIDBI.
Core techniques
- Discrete Trial Training for breaking skills into small steps
- Natural Environment Teaching during play and routines
- Positive reinforcement to increase helpful behaviors
- Functional Communication Training to replace challenging behavior
Session structure
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) designs the program and a Behavior Therapist delivers sessions. Families meet regularly with the BCBA to review data, adjust goals, and practice strategies at home.
What progress looks like
Progress is measured in small, observable steps: a child using a picture card to request a snack, tolerating a haircut, or joining a peer at the play table. Every win is tracked and celebrated.
