There is no universal "right" number of ABA hours. Dosage should be based on your child's needs, goals, age, and ability to participate meaningfully in sessions.
What research says
Studies support a range of intensities. Some young children benefit from 20–30 hours per week, while others make strong progress with 10–15 hours paired with speech, occupational, or parent training.
Factors we consider
- Your child's current skill level and challenging behaviors
- Family schedule, priorities, and transportation needs
- Coordination with school and other therapies
- The child's energy, attention, and assent during sessions
The Spectrum Roots approach
We recommend the least intensive dose likely to produce meaningful progress. Hours can increase or decrease over time based on data and family input.
